Students from Tuscarora Elementary try out new STEM activities
Frederick, MD (September 13) – The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation (CRSF), in partnership with Edgewater Federal Solutions and Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS), hosted a ribbon-cutting celebration ceremony at Tuscarora Elementary School on Thursday, September 7. The event marked the launching of two STEM Centers in Frederick County, the second STEM center is located at Whittier Elementary School.
The celebration included an all-school assembly followed by students demonstrating STEM activities in the school library.
“We’re thrilled to cut the ribbon on these interactive and inspiring STEM Centers with FCPS, and we’re excited to see how these centers will encourage and foster the next generation of STEM students,” said Lorelie Yockman, Co-Owner and Chief Administrative Officer of Edgewater Federal Solutions. “In the same way that we strive to support our clients and employees, we’re passionate about making a positive difference in our community.”

To date, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation has 354 fully operational, turnkey STEM programs in 20 states as well as 11 district-wide public-school systems, impacting nearly 100,000 kids with the help of over 2,000 teachers/educators/mentors. The centers provide opportunities for hands-on learning and exposure to start-of-the-art technology, inspiring a future generation of STEM workers thanks to the partnership.
