Edgewater faced a critical security challenge when an active enterprise user account was found in a known breach repository. The credentials had been compromised by infostealer malware and were actively being targeted, as evidenced by multiple failed login attempts. This exposure occurred outside corporate-controlled environments, highlighting the limitations of traditional detection methods.
Using R.E.A.C.T., Edgewater correlated breach data with login telemetry to identify the compromised account. Immediate remediation activities included a forced password reset, user notification, and a security education session. Continuous monitoring was activated, and personal device remediation guidance was provided to the affected user. This proactive approach demonstrated R.E.A.C.T.’s capability to detect and respond to threats without internal access or endpoint agents.
Edgewater successfully mitigated the threat and gained valuable insights into user-driven exposures.
