The Challenge:

The Federal Lead responsible for all cyber-related reporting tasks for the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) was on detail during the Annual Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) submission period. This required the Edgewater team to take the lead for all tasks, including coordinating between offices (OIG, EA, IM-20, IM-30, IM-40, IM-50, and IM-1) and working with CIO leadership on status and submission.

Furthermore, additional sections were added to the report, requiring more coordination and extra deliverables. Because this is a high-profile deliverable, this report involves S-1 review and approval.

The Solution:

Edgewater created a new FISMA Report process for the CIO. Beginning in June, the team developed a weekly status matrix of tasks and deadlines that was sent to all report participants. Through effective collaboration and tracking, the team was able to anticipate delays, effectively notify included offices and keep all activities on schedule.

The Outcome:

Submitted at the end of October, approval was granted ahead of schedule and the CIO’s response was successfully submitted before the due date.

Now in its third FISMA Reporting cycle, the Edgewater team has successfully replicated this process, becoming the subject matter expert for the data collection and reporting processes. This team continues to lead all efforts to compile the Annual FISMA and Privacy Management Report.

Our People…Your Edge

We didn’t create our outstanding team by accident.

Our advantage comes from a consistent focus on attracting highly talented and dedicated people – and a commitment to honoring and empowering them so that they stay. With meaningful work and industry-leading training, compensation, and benefits, Edgewater careers are enviable so that our people are our edge.

They’ve gone above and beyond my expectations of a company.  They recognize me as a valuable person, not just an employee.  They recognize and reward people for outstanding performance, and let us know we’re an important part of the team by sending personal notes on birthdays and anniversaries.
